Nicholson Eye clinic started by Dr. Dara Nicholson, has been operational since 1944. Since then three generations and 4 Nicholson’s have been providing eye care to Mumbai over the last years. Started by Dr. Dara B. Nicholson in 1944, this hospital has grown from its small quarters to expand to a fully integrated hospital with a functional operational theatre and inpatient services. A second clinic has been operational since 1985 at the Indian Cancer Society Centre at Nariman Point, providing outpatient and contact lens services. The Pioneer, Dr. Dara Nicholson had an illustrious career as an Ophthalmologist in Mumbai. President of the Bombay Ophthalmic Society, he has been instrumental in changing the shape of ophthalmology in Mumbai with various innovative instrumentation and surgical novelties. His son Dr. Darius D. Nicholson has been part of the clinic since its inception. Dr. Darius Nicholson has undergone numerous specialized fellowships in cataract and refractive surgery in Germany and Japan. His areas of specializations include advanced cataract surgery and laser vision correction. He has been the driving force of the clinic and hospital located at Grant road.
